When getting your website made you need to keep in mind that it needs to have a number of aspects to help with getting a good ranking and more traffic. So web masters will generally trade links with other web masters. The more links that point to your site the more relevant the search engines see your site. You may have heard of Link Farms, this is where a webmaster who has a number of sites will put his links on all these sites pointing to his other sites, even if they are not related.

Another type of spam is spamming internet sites.
CONTENT: The content on your website is important with ranking your site. You want to be sure that not only is it important to the subject of your internet site, but that it is fascinating or informative to your readers / buyers.If your site isnt kept up to date this can effect yoru ranking too. Keeping it fresh with content can keep you raising to th etop. Lets say you have a travel web site and you don't update it frequently you can still be advertising summer holidays in winter and won't be making as many winter holidays sales as you should be. Every few weeks the search engines are updated. The search engines do check the content of your site and its coding, Meta Tags, and counts all the links pointing to it.
It adds up all this and ranks your site to where it thinks it is relevant in the results pages.
Then a few weeks later it will run the same search on all the information and re position the site if things have changed.
CONTROL PANEL: one of the things the search engines will look for is how easy your site is for the customer to navagate around. The site should be easy to navigate around and shouldnt be too hard to get around. If someone is searching for something you have to offer, you have a few seconds to get their attention, or they will just hit the back button.
